Miguel Hernandez is Executive Director of El Paso County Housing Authority (EPCHA), a quasi-municipality dedicated to providing affordable housing and family self-sufficiency services using HUD, State and local funds. Hernandez's passion has always been to give back to his community and dedicated his career working for non-profit organizations. Hernandez has a track record for implementing programs that improves quality of life for all El Paso residents regardless of income status, race, gender, disability or sexual orientation.
Before joining EPCHA, Hernandez managed the admissions, occupancy and re-certification for all housing programs at the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso and responsible for co-managing a $38 million dollar budget. Previously he obtained his lending certification at FirstLight Federal Credit Union and dedicated his time by providing financial literacy classes to residents and certifying new employees. Most recently, Hernandez assisted the new County Judge, Ricardo Samaniego, by taking on the role of Senior Policy Advisor and helping his transition during his first six months of office.
Hernandez serves as a member of the Fair Housing Task Force Board of the City of El Paso, EMBA Corporate and Community Engagement Selection Committee Member at the College of Business at UTEP and most recently became member of the El Paso Continuum of Care Board. Hernandez holds an MBA from University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), and a B.A. in Management from University of Phoenix.
